If you have a stray animal or an animal that
you would like to find a new home for,
please call the shelter before bringing it
in so we can ensure appropriate space and
resources are available to care for the
animal.
Heartland Humane Society is a private
501(c)3 non-profit organization. We rely on
donations from supporters like you to help
the animals of the communities that we
serve. We do not receive funding from
and are not associated with any city, county
or state government agencies, the Humane
Society of the United States, or the United
Way.
As of 2011, we are a licensed animal shelter
in the state of Nebraska. All of our animals
receive proper vet care, including
vaccinations and prevention of common pet
diseases and infections. We test for
Heartworm in our canines and feline leukemia
in our felines.

Greet of the dogs at the 4H Grounds / Ice Rink
in Yankton (700 Whiting Drive) All of our
available dogs will be there. Come meet them and
let HHS know you support our efforts. Open

increase our foster family network. If you
have a place in your heart and your home to
help, please consider becoming a foster
home. With a limited facility, we rely
completely on wonderful families who open

Heartland Humane Society is a limited
admissions shelter, which means that we take
in animals by appointment and only when
appropriate space and resources are
available to care for them. We are
located at 601 1/2 Burleigh Street in
Yankton. Our regular business hours
are Mon - Fri from 10AM -5PM and Saturday from
9 AM - 1 PM.
We
believe everyone should spend time with
their pet before adoption.
Please be sure to come in and plan to spend
at least 20 minutes with your pet of choice.
Adoption paperwork takes approximately 20-30
minutes.

no later than 4:30pm!
