Please
be aware that the Heartland Humane Society does not have a
physical facility at this time, but we do have an office now!
We rely on our Foster Network to provide homes for the animals
that come under our care. We can also post lost/missing
pets & found animals on this site in hopes of finding
their owners or a new home. Feel free to contact us by
phone or by email.
Posting
a Pet
If you are requesting assistance from HHS in finding a home for your pet,
please review the following changes we have made to our listing policies.
We currently do these listings free of charge for HHS members, but any additional donation to us is appreciated. Your donations help us provide veterinary care for the many homeless and unwanted animals that come into our care, as well as bringing us closer to our vision of having a facility to house these animals
*** HEALTH AND
GENERAL TEMPERAMENT MUST BE ASSESSED BEFORE PLACING ANY
ANIMAL UP FOR ADOPTION. PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL PRIOR
TO SENDING ANY FORMS TO
ENSURE THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO ASSIST YOU. ALSO, DUE TO LIMITED FUNDS, WE
RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE, IF NECESSARY. ***
If you do not have a current membership already, please fill out our
Membership Form and send in.
We ask you to complete the
Surrender Agreement, thus signing the custody of the animal over to HHS. In signing this, you are giving us control over where the animal is to be placed.
If a foster home is available to place the animal immediately into, we will do so. However, if one is not available and you are able to continue housing the animal and act as the temporary caregiver, we will treat the animal as one of our foster animals. In such case, we will provide the basic, necessary veterinary care that we provide to all our fostered animals and we will have full control over the adoption of the animal. All inquiries on adoption will be directed to HHS. Cats
must be fostered indoors only and not allowed outside.
We do ask for your assistance, when possible, in getting the animal to the vet. We will set up appointments at an approved veterinary clinic and coordinate a time that is convenient for you as well. If some veterinary care has been provided already, please include a copy of those records, or the name of the Veterinary clinic where we can obtain those records.
In the case of litters of puppies or kittens, the above policies will still apply, but you must also sign an
Agreement to have the mother spayed at the appropriate time after the litter is weaned. If you do not agree to have this done,
your request to place your animals on our website may be
denied. Our goal is to prevent uncontrolled breeding.
Once all the above forms have been filled out and sent in along with a picture of the animal, we will place the animal up for adoption and list it on our website.
